Family Winter Shoot | Kelowna BC | Fine Art Film Photographer
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean we can’t find ways to get all warm and fuzzy, and this winter family shoot was chock-full of the warm and fuzzies. I met Natalie at a girl’s night at Moxie’s here in Kelowna. She was one Yuriko’s (Vintage Origami) past brides and was in need of a night out. We hit it off right away and immediately stated to plan a winter family shoot.
We met at a location that the family frequently visits to go on hikes.
It’s rare to have a perfectly happy baby the entire duration of a photo shoot, but this little one was an absolute angel – smiling the whole time. Even though it was a little ...
Furthering your learning with Image Studios
Part of being the best photographer you can be is by learning, experimenting, and challenging yourself to try new things. So that’s why when I saw that Fiona Hook from Image Studios was offering a class on family, maternity and newborns I jumped on it. Fiona is truly a great person, warm, inviting and informative – the perfect combination for a photography instructor.
The day started at 10:00am with introductions of the other students, where they were from and how they got into photography. You all know my story, but it was interesting hearing everyone else and what they were hoping to gain from Fiona’s knowledge of studio based family, maternity & newborn portraits.

Mack Dekker | Vernon BC | Cake Smash Photography
Well it all started with this little guy a year and a few months ago, my first maternity has turned into my first photo shoot of a cake smash. I was worried that he wouldn’t let me take the photos his mom and I had planned, but to our surprise it couldn’t have gone better. Mack had a smashing good time at this first birthday, and I’m glad that I got to be apart of it – happy birthday little man.

Tanya & Jacob | Summerland BC | Family Photography
I consider myself a lucky photographer to have worked with such an easygoing family as the Wells family. Jacob was a little shy at first; as I find every little one is, but warmed up quite quickly. Actual I wondered where he kept getting these hidden pockets of energy from. Independent and quick to give me that classic Jacob grin.
The session was cut a little short due to a missed nap, but the Wells family was a great help to get in all the shots that I did.
Thanks again Tanya, Jacob & family for a wonderful fall photo shoot.
