Getting ready is one of my favorite times on the wedding day. I get to see the bride and groom first thing as the day starts and I get time to sip a coffee and capture all of the little details you have gathered for your wedding. Perfume bottles, earrings, veils, invitations, cufflinks and shoes, bridesmaids gifts, hair, and makeup are all a part of the lead-up to your vows and I love every minute of it.

One tip I always give my brides is to think about a “signature scent”. Your sense of smell is closely tied you your long-term memory so by choosing a perfume that you use on special occasions, like your engagement and wedding day, you can have a beautiful reminder that brings back vivid memories. Jacqi opted for a luxurious, sweet Iris and Patchouli blend from Lancôme Paris called “La vie est belle”.

First looks are a great way to get all of your wedding party photos, as well as bride and groom portraits done; while everyone is looking their freshest. We met the bride and groom at a completely unique location, separate from the eyes of guests and family members, in a space that allowed for some amazing back drops and gorgeous portraiture.

I wanted to mix up the traditional “group” shot, and what’s better than a bunch of your besties in a vineyard? By bringing in a few chairs I was able to create different levels and added interest for a more dynamic group photo.

We finished up the warm fall night with their first dance song, “When a Man Loves a Woman” which is one of my favorites when it comes to a timeless classic option. The song still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up whenever I hear it.

What an honour and a joy to be a part of Jacqui and Colin’s big, beautiful wedding.

Colin & Jacqui | Kelowna | Fine Art Film Engagement Photographer

September 29th, 2018 by

Jacqui & Coli are true foodies at heart so right away I knew we were going to be great friends. When planning their engagement session they told me that they liked fall colours and wine so I thought a charcuterie picnic amongst the fall foliage was the way to go.

The wine glasses were made and given to them as an engagement gift from a friend and they brought along a bottle of Hester Creek red wine that they had been saving for a special occasion. Every detail was attended to and they even matched their engagement outfits perfectly to the fall palette. Colin had a pop of red (socks) in his outfit to compliment his fiancé, and Jacqui chose patent leather heels and a stunning dress.

On our way back to the car the sun peeked through the clouds and lit up Jacqui flawlessly, and when you are wearing a floor-length, black & red, floral maxi dress you rock it like the goddess that you are.

This hidden Kelowna photography location is a true gem and has tons of options with an open field, tall grasses, and a rolling hillside. I love working with my couples to bring together their engagement photography sessions vision, so if you can think of it I probably know a place here in the Okanagan that would be perfect.

Laughs, snuggles, and wine were had and I can’t wait for their Painted Rock Winery wedding next year!
